Lewis Buttery was born in 1995 and is an artist from Leicester, UK.
He started practicing self-taught in 2013, when he was introduced to the art world by a local youth arts charity.
He started working for the organisation in 2014 and spent the next four years running art workshops in prisons, council estates, and youth clubs: as well as curating countless shows of work made by the participants on those projects.
He juggled his work for the charity while doing a Foundation in Art & Design part time at De Montfort University.
Then, at the beginning of the 2018/19 academic year, he moved to London to study Fine Art at Central Saint Martins (University of the Arts London) full time.
In 2020, in response to the COVID pandemic, he started the Buttery virtual gallery.
