Soft Touch Arts MHU Murals
In 2017 and 2018 I assisted artist Jim Jackson, facilitating mural-painting sessions at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit on behalf of Soft Touch Arts. We translated his sketches into scaled-up designs on the walls and helped the service users at the unit paint everything in, then added finishing details. First we did the garden, which is used by all the wards, then we did three individual wards' outdoor communal areas: with help from the residents on each one. Jim had completed completed work for the other wards already by the time I was brought on. The photos below are in order of completion: first the garden and then the three wards.
